Here's one of the recent one that you can easily attempt if you don't know what to do with your old button badge that's sitting somewhere, collecting dust.

Material:
-button badge
-foam tape/ double sided tape.
-printed images (eg: camera, your own photo, car)
-scissors.
-* a trip to the print shop to get the image laminated.
Step 1:
-print and cut out choice image (any prefered size).
Step 2:
-laminated the image and cut it out.
Step 3:
-stick on double sided tape onto the button badge
and stick the laminated image on it.
That's it!
